7-minute workout apps

7-minute workout apps: I tried 30, here are the best. The best 7-minute workouts on the planet are the ones you’ll actually do. This is what I know for sure after testing out more than 30 of them over the past few months. That and yes, they really do work. Adding in short blasts of high intensity interval (HIIT) training consisting of various strength, cardio, core, and flexibility exercises whenever I have a spare seven minutes in my day, have helped me get stronger, leaner, faster, and to feel better overall. My favorites are all free, though you can subscribe for more features to most of them as well. But free works just fine. They’re all available on iOS and Android (except for one). They’re all built around the science-based concept of high-intensity circuit training using body weight, so you don’t need any fancy equipment. I’ve done these in hotel rooms, my office, parks, and even in a quiet corner at the airport waiting to get on a plane. The study that kicked

Virginia Woolf's 136th birthday.

Image
Google Doodle celebrates Virginia Woolf's 136th birthday. Virginia  Woolf was a pioneer in the use of the stream-of-conscious narrative approach, harnessing a poetic vision that elevated sometimes mundane settings while examining the complex interior lives of her characters.   To celebrate one of the 20th century's foremost novelists,  Google  dedicated its Doodle on Thursday to Woolf on the 136th anniversary of her birth. Born in London in 1882, Woolf was homeschooled in the English classics and Victorian literature for much of her childhood. She began writing professionally in 1900, becoming a significant member of London's literary society and the Bloomsbury Group, a collective of prominent contemporary intellectuals and artists. While Woolf grew up surrounded by the London literary scene, it was her childhood memories of visiting the Cornish coast that inspired the settings of the English author's most powerful narratives, including "To the Light

How often do Prime members buy from Amazon?

Superusers: How often do Prime members buy from Amazon? Amazon  (NASDAQ: AMZN) shares very little data about its Prime membership base, independent research shows that the company may have as many as 90 million subscribers who pay for a suite of perks including free two-day shipping and streaming video. That estimate is based on a 500-person survey conducted by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP). The CIRP data also show that Prime members, who pay either $99 a year or $10.99 a month for the service, spend about $1,300 a year on Amazon.com versus $700 for non-Prime members. They also have proven incredibly loyal, which gives the online retailer protection against new competitors or business models. "The share of members that indicate they are likely to renew for another year has remained high for several quarters, always comfortably above 90%," CIRP partner Mike Levin said in a press release. "In fact, in some quarters, literally no customers in the

Sergei Eisenstein changed the way films were made as early as the 1920s.

Google Doodle tribute: Sergei Eisenstein changed the way films were made as early as the 1920s. If a  Google Doodle  is the best way to rediscover Sergei Eisenstein, so be it. The pioneering avant-garde Russian filmmaker was born 120 years ago, on January 22, 1898, and died on February 11, 1948. He was only 50 when he succumbed to a heart attack. His legacy is rich, complex and, in many ways, immeasurable. Eisenstein’s politically loaded films galvanised the cinema of the former Soviet Union and beyond with their bold narrative approach, stylistic flourishes, dramatic use of cinematography, editing and music, and marriage between ideology and the craft of filmmaking. Here are six clips that demonstrate Eisenstein’s genius, his contributions to the art of editing through his theories on montage, and his ability to transcend propaganda to create enduring art. Strike (1925)  Eisenstein’s first-full length feature, made as a silent film, and depicting a workers’ protest at a

Padmaavat row: Makers move Supreme Court against ban in 4 states. After being mired in controversy for the longest time, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat will see the light of day on January 25, but not without a few hiccups. With just a week left for the period drama to hit the screens, four states have announced ban on the release of the film. After Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, Harayana became the fourth state to ban the film. Health Minister Anil Vij took to Twitter to make the announcement on Tuesday. And now the makers of Padmaavat have decided to move the Supreme Court against the ban imposed by these four states. The apex court is likely to hear them out on Friday (January 19). Padmaavat, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, is based on the poem Padmavat, written by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi in the 15th century. The ballad narrates the tale of the beautiful Rani Padmini of Chittor, (played by Deepika), and Turkish in

Google  is celebrating the life of film star Katy Jurado on what would have been her 94th birthday with a new Doodle.   urado achieved stardom during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema starring in  La vida inutil de Pito Perez  in 1943 before being cast in her first Hollywood film, 1951's  Bullfighter and the Lady . Jurado's limited grasp of English led to her delivering her lines by memorizing the way they sounded. She was then cast 1952's  High Noon  as Helen Ramirez, a role that led to Jurado becoming  the first  Latin American actress to win a Golden Globe. Jurado would go on to win three Silver Ariel Awards and also become the first Latin American actress to be nominated for an Academy Award. "Off-screen, Jurado was a tenacious and spirited woman who captivated everyone around her," Google  said  of Jurado. "While she was stunningly beautiful, her portrayals transcended the stereotyped, over-sexualized roles written for Mexican women at the

google-doodle-commemorates-mahasweta-devi-on-her-92nd-birthday

A Google Doodle commemorating what would have been Mahasweta Devi's 92nd birthday has been released on 14 January 2018. The Indian literary icon passed away in July 2016, at the age of 90, and was accorded a state funeral by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who said: "India has lost a great writer. Bengal has lost a glorious mother. I have lost a personal guide. Mahashweta Di rest in peace." The Google Doodle depicts Mahasweta Devi's portrait, surrounded by the faces of the people whose cause she championed — through her books and in life. The tribals, the downtrodden and the oppressed — those whose stories weren't considered worth narrating, these she made her own. "The reason and inspiration for my writing are those people who are exploited and used, and yet do not accept defeat," she once said. Born in 1926 in Decca (what is now Dhaka) in British India, Mahasweta Devi was the daughter of literary parents — her father Manish Ghatak was a p

5 Keystone Habits For A Strong Mind And A Fulfilling Life. 1. Make Your Bed Making your bed in the morning might seem too mundane, but there’s an underlying benefit you can harness from it. If you make your bed in the morning, you enforce the idea that little things matter in life. And because you took positive action, you get a sense of pride for starting out on the right path. Don’t just make the bed, make it better than anyone else. Don’t just wash the dishes, wash them better than anyone else. Don’t just do your job, do it better than anyone else. For a strong mind, you need to get small wins throughout the day. And making your bed can be your very first win in the morning. 2. Exercise Exercise not only improves your physical health but also has a host of benefits for your mental health.  It increases mental clarity, focus, productivity and even makes you more creative. You don’t need to do some hardcore workout every day. Even 30 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise,

Bollywood's Fearless Nadia.

Image
Google Doodle celebrates Bollywood's Fearless Nadia. Google on Monday celebrated the birth anniversary of Bollywood actor Mary Ann Evans, popularly known as Fearless Nadia, with a doodle. Nadia, an Australian-born performer, was an important part of the Hindi film industry in the 1930s and 1940s. In the course of her career spanning over 38 films, she made a name for herself as a talented actor who did her own stunts, and often portrayed the role of an Indian woman fighting injustice and saving the masses from oppressive rulers — a theme that went down well with the audience during the last leg of the British rule. The young Nadia was introduced to the world of  Hindi cinema  by J.B.H. Wadia, the founder of Wadia Movitone, a production company and studio based in Mumbai that was known for its stunt and fantasy films. It is said that when no one was ready to distribute 'Hunterwali,' starring the blonde, blue-eyed Nadia, the Wadias took up the task. The film went on
