Why Friendship Day Celebrate. Friendship Day was originated by Joyce Hall , the founder of Hallmark cards in 1930, intended to be 2 August and a day when people celebrated their friendships by holiday celebrations. Friendship Day was promoted by the greeting card National Association during the 1920s but met with consumer resistance - given that it was too obviously a commercial gimmick to promote greetings cards. By the 1940s the number of Friendship Day cards available in the US by had dwindled and the holiday largely died out there. There is no evidence to date for its uptake in Europe; however, it has been kept alive and revitalised in Asia, where several countries have adopted it. In honor of Friendship Day in 1998, Nane Annan, wife of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, named Winnie the Pooh as the world's Ambassador of Friendship at the United Nations. RBI sends second list of 26 defaulters to banks.   RBI says the accounts in the second defaulter list should be first resolved through any of its schemes before 13 December, failing which they should be referred to NCLT under Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code before 31 December.           Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has sent commercial banks a second list of at least 26 defaulters with which it wants creditors to start the process of debt resolution before initiating bankruptcy proceedings, three bankers aware of the development said. In a letter, the central bank said these accounts should first be resolved through any of RBI’s schemes before 13 December, failing which cases should be filed against these companies under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) before 31 December. Google has marked the 118th birthday of innovative Chinese American cinematographer James Wong Howe with the help of a Google Doodle . The company has used an oil painting canvas to portray the use of frames and dramatic lighting to convey the innovative camera work that Wong employed in his work. He rose to fame for his filming techniques despite the racial adversity present at that time in the United States.                                             He was known for minimal camera movement to express emotions in the scene and accidentally discovered how dark backdrops could be used to create ‘color nuances’ in the black and white film. This meant that he could fine tune the shade of the colors on black and white film to display a wide gradient of black and white to make the scene more dynamic.
