Padmaavat row: Makers move Supreme Court against ban in 4 states.

After being mired in controversy for the longest time, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat will see the light of day on January 25, but not without a few hiccups. With just a week left for the period drama to hit the screens, four states have announced ban on the release of the film.
After Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, Harayana became the fourth state to ban the film. Health Minister Anil Vij took to Twitter to make the announcement on Tuesday.
And now the makers of Padmaavat have decided to move the Supreme Court against the ban imposed by these four states. The apex court is likely to hear them out on Friday (January 19).

Padmaavat, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, is based on the poem Padmavat, written by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi in the 15th century. The ballad narrates the tale of the beautiful Rani Padmini of Chittor, (played by Deepika), and Turkish invader Alauddin Khilji's ( Ranveer) lust for her. To avoid falling into his clutches, she committed self-immolation or jauhar.
The Karni Sena has been up in arms as it strongly believes that there is a romantic dream sequence between Khilji and Rani Padmini, despite million clarifications from Bhansali, that there is no such scene. Despite these burning controversies, the film will see the light of day on January 25. It will clash with Akshay Kumar's Pad Man at the box office.
